Tywon Time

I told you George Mason is nice...

Yes, I'm following my boy, Scott Cherry, on the bench this weekend. What more can I say? He hit two Final Fours as a player and now he has reached it as an assistant coach. It's always great to see one of your boys shine.

With that said, I'm looking to Wednesday's McDonald's All-American Game, which is always fun to sleuth for the first ten minutes or for a half. Well, this year for UNC fans should be a doozy. There are three UNC signees playing in the game, Brandan Wright, Wayne Ellington, and Tywon Lawson. Personally, I'm enamored with Tywon Lawson's play...Three seasons at Oak Hill, playing at the level of comp...Yes, you better believe he's ready for the elite college level game.

And I thought this was an interesting tidbit from Oak Hill Coach Steve Smith, who has coached Lawson since his sophomore year.

Smith touched on Lawson's talent during Oak Hill's HDTV game against D.C. rival Montrose Christian team, who is headed by Stu Vetter. Smith, who is very unassuming about rating his best players, stated last week on the HDTV telecast of the Oak Hill that the best player who ever played at Oak Hill was Rod Strickland...(By the way, I wholeheartedly agree)...He then added.

"Lawson is better."

How's that for a thought for the kid who's plays like Strickland but has the build and speed of a LaDaininan Tomilson...

The Tradition Continues,
